The Opportunity

Are you a local artist based in Brantford, County of Brant, Six Nations of the Grand River, or Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation? The City of Brantford is looking for singers, dancers, poets, spoken word artists, musicians, theatre performers, and live painters to submit their proposal to showcase their amazing skills at this year’s Culture Days on the Trails.

Culture Days is a national celebration of arts and culture. At the end of each September, millions of people attend thousands of free participatory arts and culture events across the country both in-person and online. Culture Days programs invite the public to get hands-on and behind-the-scenes to highlight the importance of arts and culture in our communities.

The next national Culture Days celebration will take place from September 19 to October 12, 2025, for three weeks of colour, creativity, and community.

This year, Brantford is hosting Culture Days on the Trails which will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The rain date for the event is Sunday, September 21. The festivities will take place along the SC Johnson Trail, starting from the Hardy Road parking lot and ending at the Lafayette Avenue and SC Johnson trail junction. Trail users will be invited to walk along the SC Johnson Trail and attend 10-12 mini concerts and performances along the trial.

  • Artists will be paid $250.00 for the three hour performance time.
  • Artists will be stationed outside along the trail to showcase their talents for 3 hours.

Please note that due to the outdoor nature of this event, artists should be aware that there is no power or water supply. Shade will be limited; we recommend that all performers dress according to the weather. Artists will be selected through a jury-led review panel.

Submissions

Artists will be required to submit a proposal which includes the following information: their performance genre (singer, dancer, musician, etc.), a short biography, links to portfolio examples, a short description of their performance, a headshot/promotional image, and their contact information.
